Apple - Katy
An easy to grow, heavy cropping, disease resistant apple variety from Sweden. They taste great but don't keep for more than a week so eat them fresh from the tree and they are hard to beat! They are self sterile and require a group 3 pollinator - so go well with Topaz.
The apples are medium-sized, usually pink/red to bright red in colour over a light green yellow background. The flesh is a pale cream colour, and has a firm and fairly crisp consistency. They make great juice and cider and can be baked. We grow Katy with Topaz as Katy's spring blossom is both attractive, and long-lasting, making it an excellent pollinator. The combination of the two gives us high yields of fruit that that we can eat for several months.
